Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! As our weekend slowly comes to an end, I wanted to give you a short update what we were up to. We truly had a great time exploring some cultural aspects of our new home. Professor Notsu (Niklas boss) and his colleague Professor Kimura have organized some activities for the international guests of the working group at the mathematical department. In addition to Niklas, there are some international researcher visiting the team for the workshop that takes place next week.
First week done!
Hey everyone, today we’ve been to Kanazawa for one full week! Well, usually a week is no time period that is considered to be long, however for us it feels like a lifetime. In the last days, a lot has happened and we are still processing the fact that we are finally here.
Niklas has started his new job at the university and is busy setting up his office. The university is located quite close to our home, only three bus stops away.
The first days in Kanazawa
Hi everyone, in this entry I would like to tell you how we spent our first days in Kanazawa and how the settling in process is progressing. As I told you the last time, the first days were extremely exciting and demanding. Now, some days later, we are happy to report some achievements.
Yesterday, our fridge and our washing machine were delivered and Niklas has bought a gas cooking field. Therefore, we are now able to use our kitchen properly and can finally start making our own food again.
Arriving in Japan
As you probably heard by now, we arrived safely in Japan and are right now in the process of getting settled into our new life and home.
The journey itself was quite alright, given the time it took to travel so far. At Frankfurt Airport, our families were saying goodbye to us and keeping us company until we had to go through the security check. It was really nice to have our families there for our last minutes in Frankfurt and we enjoyed it very much as it was important for us to say goodbye to everyone in person.
Last week before departure
Hello everyone, this is the first entry that I’m writing for this blog and I’m very excited about it. Because now, the big adventure “living in Japan” is not just a vague idea or a plan for a project that is yet to come. No, this is real! And it’s going to start very soon.
But before we will depart on Tuesday, we still have a lot to do… and a lot to process!
